Not that I’m complaining about more Zelda, but still, it’s like showing up to a party and the only drinks available are the same old soda in fancy glasses.
And what’s coming next? Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. Yeah, it’s a mouthful. It’s a mash-up with Dynasty Warriors, the third one, mind you. I guess if you’re into massive battles and swinging swords like a madman, it’s your thing. But for the hardcore Zelda purists out there, it’s like getting socks for Christmas. Not bad, just not what you were hoping for.
The fans? They’re not really left high and dry. I mean, Tears of the Kingdom is only a couple of years old, and there’s Echoes of Wisdom that popped up just last year. But let’s face it, we’re all sitting here tapping our feet wondering when the next big Zelda game’s gonna drop. Feels like forever, right? But hey, patience is a virtue, or so they tell me.
Now, let’s chat about something important: the Master Sword. Good ‘ol blade of legends, right? So integral to Link’s adventures, yet in recent times, it feels like it’s more of an afterthought. In Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, it was practically an optional side quest thing. Optional! That’s like having a PB&J without the peanut butter.

Make it smack enemies with the authority it deserves—or at least make it feel like the legendary artifact we all know it can be. Ditch the whole durability gimmick while they’re at it. Who in their right mind enjoys worrying about their weapon crumbling mid-battle?
Back to story talk: remember how in Tears of the Kingdom, the Master Sword could just be left behind? Like, you could finish the whole game without it? That’s nuts, considering how iconic it is. Make it mandatory. Make it central to the plot. Give it the kind of story focus that makes fans sob with joy. Or maybe with nostalgia. Who’s counting the tears, anyway?
Here’s hoping when the next Zelda title drops on the Switch 2, it remembers what made the series, and that sword, legendary in the first place. Fingers crossed, or maybe I just like to keep hope alive. Either way, Nintendo, don’t let us down.
