So, there I was, catching the Capcom Spotlight in June, and honestly, my expectations were all over the place. But, guess what? Resident Evil Requiem popped up, the bit everyone’s been buzzing about. Was it the epic gameplay showcase we all drooled over in our dreams? Eh, not really. But still, worth a peek.
I mean, they did kind of spill the beans on why they’ve thrown the sequel into this new, twisty turn. Or did they? Sometimes I just wonder if I missed something. Anyway, there was this whole “Creators’ Message” moment – think developer diary, not exactly edge-of-your-seat stuff. Bits of gameplay sneak in between all the talking heads. Felt like I was watching some artsy documentary.
Oh, and here’s a kicker – mystery solved, folks. Grace, our lead lady, is straight from the Ashcroft lineage, yes, as in the Resident Evil Outbreak line. Funny how they’re flipping away from the Winters saga and looping back into the big ol’ Raccoon City and Umbrella drama. Did I mention? It’s the 30th year anniversary gig. Makes sense. Or maybe not. Depends on how much coffee I’ve had.
Leon Kennedy, let’s talk about him. Why isn’t he the front-and-center hero here, given his nostalgia-filled logs with Raccoon City’s madhouse police station? Simple answer – Capcom wanted someone who’d actually get scared. Leon’s apparently too fearless for that now, go figure.
Oh, and there’s Grace again. She’s meant to mimic us, the average gamers. Newbie vibe yet packing heat. Guns, folks, I’m talking guns. If Leon was the main dude, we’d miss that whole relatable charm. I have to say, never thought an FBI agent could look “average,” but here we are.
Let’s not sideline the big reveal from Summer Game Fest – you can play Requiem in both first and third-person views. Capcom’s people on PlayStation Blog spilled that they didn’t really riff off the Resident Evil Village DLC for that choice. Players just seem to dig these perspectives – once they pick one, they basically marry it. Love a good commitment story.
And so, pencil this in – February 27, 2026. PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S. Mark the calendar, flip a coin, or scribble it on a sticky note. Up to you.
