Hey, so there I was, just hanging out at the Summer Game Fest 2025, and guess who I ran into? Brandon Adler, the dude behind The Outer Worlds 2. He’s all serious about this new game. Like, not just “serious serious” but darker and less goofy. Blame it on Leonard Boyarsky. Apparently, he’s got this whole vibe. Maybe it’s his thing, or maybe he’s just emo at heart. Anyway, Brandon was chatting about how the story feels heavier, kinda more intense. Wasn’t expecting that for sure.
Now, Boyarsky and Tim Cain, those guys, they were the brains behind Fallout. Cain’s kinda chilling now, but Leonard? He’s stepping into the spotlight with more of his darker vision. Funny how that works, isn’t it? Not sure why I noticed, but I did.
Honestly, I’m all in for this grittier twist. The first game was full of laughs, but sometimes it felt like a sitcom where I was hoping for a suspense thriller, you know? I mean, laughter’s great, but not when I’m trying to, like, save the galaxy or whatever.
And I’m hoping there’s some wicked cool dark humor—weirdly enough, Fallout did that well. Maybe The Outer Worlds 2 will hit that same sweet spot. But now we have this cooler, darker vibe that might just make those intense moments pop. Makes the whole story a bit more gripping, don’t you think?
Brendan Lowry—yeah, him, he writes stuff too—said something about factions in the game trying to outdo each other. Protectorate sounds like that friend who’s super organized but maybe too much. Auntie’s Choice? They’re selling freedom like it’s on a Black Friday deal. And those scientists? Mixing labs and prophecies. Go figure.
The companions seem offbeat too, or maybe just more… shadowy? Aza’s got a thing for, um, violence. Marisol? An assassin with drama. And Tristan, well, less about justice, more about vengeance. Fun times.
I’m kinda hoping we get to nudge these companions, you know, give ’em a moral compass or just let them do their thing. It reminds me of Baldur’s Gate 3, where the characters felt like real people with real problems. Darker stories can do wonders for a game’s vibe, especially with characters like these.
Can barely wait for October. The Outer Worlds 2 might just be the new thing I didn’t know I needed. It’s all about seriousness versus silliness, right? Hopefully, it’s less about slapstick and more about the chill kind of humor.
Mark your calendars for October 29, 2025. Grab it on whatever platform floats your boat: Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5. Oh, and Xbox Game Pass too. Here’s to hoping it won’t disappoint!
