Wow, so, Itch.io — this cool indie games spot — just went and yanked all the adult NSFW stuff. Kinda wild, right? Apparently, they got squeezed by those who handle their money, which, ugh, sucks.
So Leaf, the big cheese at Itch.io, shared some thoughts on their blog. Turns out, this group called Collective Shout — super anti-porn folks — is throwing punches at both Steam and Itch.io. Like, seriously trying to knock them out by chatting up the payment people.
And now Itch has to play nice with these money movers. They’re diving into a deep content sweep, ’cause they’ve gotta make sure they’re all synced up with the new rules. Who made these rules? Well, pressure gets the best of us all, I guess.
Anyway, Leaf’s like, “Hey, we gotta keep the money flowing for our creators.” Makes sense, right? No cash, no games. So, yeah, gotta buddy up with those payment folks.
And the kicker? Everything’s happening super fast. No heads-up for creators, which is kinda rough. Leaf did say they’re sorry, so there’s that.
Steam’s in the crosshairs too! They’re scrambling under these new, unclear rules — all thanks to the same group’s push on their payment buddies.
Life in the indie game world sure ain’t boring these days. Who would’ve thought I’d be thinking about this stuff at all hours?
