Okay, so here’s a wild thought. Bandai Namco is at it again, folks. They’ve got this new gameplay trailer for something called Tamagotchi Plaza Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. It kinda took me back to the ’90s. Remember those little egg-shaped gadgets? Well, they’re back, and I’m not sure how I feel about it.
There’s this whole thing with three shops that are, like, just for the Switch 2. Which, by the way, uses Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. Whatever those are. Anyway, there’s a Sushi Shop – because who doesn’t love sushi, right? And, oh boy, a Shuriken Shop – yes, ninja stars! To top it off, they’ve got this Sushi Shuriken Shop. Yup, combining sushi and shurikens because… why not mix raw fish with ninja weapons?
So, the tale goes like this: there’s a Great Gotchi King, and he’s decided there’s gonna be this big Tamagotchi Fest on Tamagotchi Planet. Seriously, who comes up with these names? You’ve got to help this dude, Prince Tamahiko, turn his town into festival-central. Why? No clue. But it sounds fun, I guess.
There’s this whole nostalgic vibe of setting up weird shops and serving these Tamagotchi creatures. They’ve got 12 shops, a mix of old favs like the Dentist (like, what?), and some new joints like the Eyewear or Galette shops. Do Tamagotchis even have eyes? Don’t answer that.
You’ll get to play minigames in each shop, maybe with a friend if you can coax them into this madness. And, apparently, doing well ups your shop’s rep and brings over 100 Tamagotchi visitors. Sounds like the town’s gonna be hopping.
Oh, and get this – you can link the game with the new Tamagotchi Uni toy. Exclusive items, folks. Yep, we’re being incentivized to buy more stuff. Why am I not surprised?
Mark your calendars if this is your cup of tea. June 27, 2025 – it’s hitting both the retail shelves and the Nintendo eShop for both the Switch and the mighty Switch 2. If that’s not a reason to party, I don’t know what is.
