Remake of Oblivion Might Launch As Soon As This Week

There’s an exciting buzz in the gaming community thanks to a rumor about a remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion possibly launching later this week. This classic from Bethesda, which hit the scene with the Xbox 360 in 2006, has carved out a special place in the hearts of fans for nearly two decades. It marked a significant chapter in Bethesda’s RPG legacy as it made its console debut.

Recently, discussions about an Oblivion remake have been gaining traction, fueled by information that unintentionally surfaced in court documents amid the Xbox vs. FTC case over the Activision acquisition. However, they admit their info’s source is a bit shaky, opening the door to the possibility of a later launch or even just an official announcement this week with an actual release in the summer. April is already packed for Xbox, which makes the timing of an Oblivion remake release a tricky proposition. Just a week from today, Compulsion Games’ eerie adventure, South of Midnight, is set to debut on April 8. Then comes the launch of Xbox’s Game Pass offering, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, on the 24th. The month also sees two major PlayStation 5 ports dropping: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on the 16th and Forza Horizon 5 on the 29th. With all this activity, it seems unlikely Xbox would choose now to casually drop Oblivion. A release further into the summer, perhaps in June or July when things quiet down a bit, might make more sense, especially with Doom: The Dark Ages poised for a May launch.
