Did you catch that bit about the Switch 2’s launch lineup? It’s like déjà vu with the Wii U all over again, but there’s a twist in the tale. More new Switch games popped up this week. Why did I even notice this? Maybe it’s a gamer thing. I dunno.
So here’s what struck me. Back in March 2017, I wrote something on console launches. The buzz was all about the ‘new hotness’ vs ‘old and busted’ games. The Wii U sneaked in a Switch game release, so there was this wacky 2:1 ratio happening. Fast forward to now with Switch 2 and it’s not such a lopsided deal. Somehow the OG Switch still reigns with 40 new games in North America and Europe, compared to Switch 2’s 28 or so. Maybe it’s just slopmongers doing their thing, who knows.
You can’t help but hum the familiar tune: Mario Kart World, Welcome Tour, and those Zelda games. Upgrades splashing around everywhere — two Zelda gems get freebies, but hey, cough up for some others, or better yet, grab an NSO Expansion Pack. Fast Fusion, Hitman, Street Fighter 6? They’re in there too. Oh, and what’s up with that Picross from Jupiter? Baffling.
Random trivia of the week: Namco’s Super World Court closed the first Archives chapter before Ridge Racer kicked off Archives 2. Missing those old days yet?
Is that EGGCONSOLE game playable outside Japan? Nah, don’t count on it.

Smooth Switch 1 Landings
In Japan, Nobunaga’s Ambition hits ¥11,880. Meanwhile, over in our neck of the woods, do you know what’s wild? Digging for gold at €5.99/£5.39 in Europe or ¥5.99 in Japan. A treasure hunt for the ages, maybe?
Anyway, keep an eye on those expanding game libraries. Or not. Who needs planning when you can just wing it with a Switch controller in one hand and a bowl of popcorn in the other?
