Okay, here it goes—buckle up, because this won’t be your usual smooth ride. You know those times when you stumble across something so rare that your brain does this little dance trying to comprehend it? Like, only 19 of the ’05 NISMO R34 GT-R Z-tune exist. Exactly 19. You could do some math—why do we do math in our heads?—and figure out that’s one car per gazillion people (roughly speaking). So, congrats if you’re amongst the lucky ones. For the rest of us mere mortals, there’s Update 1.61. The magic of Polyphony! They’ve not only introduced Z-tune driving for the earthlings but also brought in the ’22 Honda N-ONE RS and ’22 Nissan Qashqai Tekna in their free update. Seriously, who said good things don’t come for free?
Oh, and there’s a video, like a digital carrot dangling in front of our impatient gaming souls. No clue why I mentioned carrots—probably because I’m hungry while writing this.
Anyway—wait, what was I talking about? Oh yes—new things in the Gran Turismo 7 universe. Three new events, check. Lone Pine added to Scapes, whatever Scapes really is (sounds cool). Plus, a snazzy ’17 Lexus RC F GT3 with some futuristic “ANEST IWATA Racing 2025” livery, which I’d probably paint onto my walls if I could. And the AI… Sophy? Yes, Sophy will race you—she’s like that cool rival you never had.
So this big, no colossal—update landed on us July 23/24. Exact time depending on where you are, the universe does its thing with time zones—don’t ask me how.
Right, so new cars, yeah? ’22 Honda N-ONE RS, can we just say it’s adorable in a fierce way? Like, it shouldn’t be spilling this much attitude on the road. And, isn’t it sweet how it echoes Honda’s first kei regulation car, the N360? Nostalgia at its best and worst—makes my heart go fuzzy.
The N-ONE’s history goes like wine through cheese. Wait no, that’s not right—though 2012 wasn’t long ago but in car years? Ages! The new model kept its retro armor because change is scary for us all. Maybe you already got distracted by the engine specs—it’s okay, I might have too. Turbo lovers, brace yourselves!
Moving along, there’s the legendary ’05 NISMO R34 GT-R Z-tune. Born from Nismo’s 20th birthday wish, it’s the car version of a rare unicorn. They took old rides and basically Frankensteined them into awesomeness. High-end parts straight from a car lover’s dream, titanium stuff, and gutsy suspension, though I barely know what suspension does—still sounds impressive!
The Qashqai too, the sort of compact SUV that whispers promises of road trips to me. Embracing modernity with the swagger only a C-segment can—or something. It got fancy with e-Power and (gasp) a variable compression ratio engine. Does anyone actually get engines? I pretend to.
New racing spots: Nürburgring Nordschleife for LW K-Cup, Alsace for Japanese FF Challenge, and Fuji for Turbo Sportscar race—Japanese tracks sound like sushi options—how delightful!
Sophy—spooky racing AI—is waiting on High Speed Ring. Great. As if competing with humans wasn’t hard enough! You—imaginary reader—should probably try it. Or not. Who even listens to side notes in articles anymore?
And somewhere there’s a place called Lone Pine featured in Scapes. So many places, not enough time. Lexus brought some color splash to keep things edgy. Pay attention to that, maybe?
Well, that’s a wrap, or as wrapped as this clumsy attempt can get. By the way, play Gran Turismo. Cause why wouldn’t you?
