Ah, Destiny games. You know, the ones where you zip around on those cool bikes and, out of nowhere, wield laser swords like it’s no biggie? Honestly, it was like the renegade sibling of Star Wars all along. But wait for it—Destiny 2 is about to dive, full-on cannonball-style, into Star Wars territory. Yeah, you heard me. An expansion called Renegades, straight from Lucasfilm itself. We’re talking legit lightsabers and Darth Vader making an appearance. Crazy, right?
So, Bungie had this whole reveal livestream on Tuesday, laying out what they’re calling the Year of Prophecy. Sounds fancy, huh? Well, during this little online shindig, they dropped a teaser for Renegades, set to drop on December 2. Think about it—Han Solo’s blaster in your hand, a green lightsaber swinging around. Oh, and they’ve got these Dark Side skins too. You know, makeover your Guardian into the likes of General Grievous or that moody Kylo Ren. And apparently, when you grab the Destiny 2: Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition, you also get another expansion—The Edge of Fate. That one’s out in July, FYI.
Now, about Renegades—details are still in the category of “need to know.” But from what I’ve pieced together, it’s more than just a wardrobe change. There’s this desert world in the trailer, strikingly Tatooine-ish. Bungie folks hinted during the livestream that—get this—the world is genuinely set in the Star Wars galaxy. Mind-bending, I know.
And beyond just dressing up your Guardian, there’s more swag. Picture this: buying a Marksman-H combat remote decoration for your Ghost. It better happen, or we riot, am I right?
This isn’t Destiny 2’s first Star Wars rodeo, either. Back in February, they tossed in Guardian outfits akin to Stormtroopers and Death Troopers. You know, during the Heresy expansion. Anyway, both Renegades and The Edge of Fate are hitting all major platforms this year—PlayStation, Xbox, PC. So, buckle up, folks. It’s gonna be one wild ride.
