Whoa, okay, so there’s this game, Drag x Drive—yeah, not your average sports game. It’s headed to the Switch 2, which might be my new favorite console. Now, maybe I’m just easily amused, but the whole wheelchair-basketball-with-mouse-controls thing? Super intriguing. Nintendo dropped this surprise gameplay trailer, and it’s got all sorts of funky details. It’s coming out on August 14, if you’re keeping track.
Anyway, this trailer is like over seven minutes long—seriously, who makes them that long? But if you’re curious about how it all works, like controls and tricks and stuff beyond the main arena, it’s got your back.
So, during one of our rambles on the Pure Nintendo Podcast, we were kinda stumped about the game modes. What are we working with here besides 3-on-3? Turns out, there are a bunch of mini-games—what a relief, right? Adds some zest, you know? You’ve got online play, training modes, messing with bots—it’s more layered than I expected.
Nintendo’s got a list of features, of course:
Jump into online lobbies. Get six players, hit start, boom—the game’s rolling. Twelve folks can fit in a Public Park. Or, gather your buddies for a Friend Park, which I guess is like a private hangout? Two courts, six players per court—make it a battle for leaderboard glory!
Need practice? Go solo and take on computer opponents. And then there’s the driver thing—Guard, Center, Forward. Each with stats. Pick your poison—I mean, style.
But when you’re bored or whatever, take a detour to a Circuit Sprint or throw down in shooting contests. Rebound Scramble, jump rope—yes, jump rope is a thing now. Challenges earn you in-game trophies, and who doesn’t love a good trophy? Custom helmets, colors, the whole shebang.
Does this sound amazing or what? I think it might end up being a surprise gem for Nintendo, but hey, what do I know? I’m just a fan with a keyboard. So, if you’re hyped—or just curious—jump into the conversation. Seriously, would love to hear what you reckon about that trailer.
Oh, pro-tip: If you’re itching to get ahead of the game before it officially drops, there’s this sneak peek event called Global Jam, August 9-10. Perfect time to dabble.

August 9, 5 pm to 9 pm PT
