Alright, let’s give this a whirl. Here we go:
So, there I was, diving headfirst into this thing called Crazy Cats vs. Crazy Cyborgs from Xeneder Team. It’s an arcade shooter, you know? And, whoa, you’re Princess Anna, out to save the cat people from a bunch of wild cyborgs. Honestly, just saying that out loud sounds bizarre… but stick with me.
You’re gonna be flying through 12 levels, all boss fights. And I gotta say, simplicity is the name of the game here. I’ve played a couple other titles from Xeneder—Lasso Catch and Happi Basudei—so this wasn’t my first rodeo. Anyway, back to Anna. You only move her up and down, which is easy enough, and she starts shooting enemies on her own. At first, that feels kind of irritating. The shooting’s slow, like molasses… and aiming? Forget it. I was dodging more than hitting anything.
But then, oh man, here comes this upgrade system, and it saves your tail. You die, collect coins, and boom, upgrade time. Higher fire rate, more damage, or calling in some creature buddies. Death just sets you back one level, so it’s not the end of the world and you can play around with different setups.
Those upgrades? Immediate punch to Anna’s powers. Fire faster, hit harder, whatever you fancy. You’ll feel like a powerhouse in no time flat, maybe halfway through the short 15-20 minutes. Heck, the game loops back around for more after you clear those 11 levels. Gets tougher, too.
Visuals, they’re a blast—with a throwback 16-bit style that pops. There’s this neat parallax effect that just draws you in. The music? It does its job. Not blowing my mind or anything, but it works.
Trophies are the big draw here, especially if you’re a hunter. Really, it’s almost laughably easy to snatch up that Platinum trophy. Eleven gold trophies, just complete each level. Plus, it’s Cross-Buy, so one price gets you both PS4 and PS5 versions—two Platinums right there.
So, if you’re after a quick Platinum or just a simple fun time, Crazy Cats vs. Crazy Cyborgs is pretty darn okay. It’s not groundbreaking, but for three bucks? Yeah, good deal. Just remember, there’s a trophy guide if you’re like me and need a little nudge.
Anyway… that’s about it. Had my fun, got the trophies. Crazy, quirky game. Available now.
