Sure thing, let’s see… So, there’s a thing with Jack Black, right? Dude’s kinda popping up all over the place in the gaming scene. Like, seriously, he’s like in every corner I turn—I’m half expecting him to pop out from under my bed at this point! You’ve got the Mario movie, the Minecraft flick (don’t even get me started on that blocky saga), and now he’s somehow involved in the Borderlands movie. And if that wasn’t enough, he’s showing up again in next month’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 remake. Yeah, not once but twice. Imagine that! He’s Officer Dick, and get this—also as some Constable Richard bloke in London. It’s a whole thing.
Growing up, apparently Dick, or should I say Richard Ennvee (seriously, Ennvee? Someone’s having a laugh), got bullied by skater dudes. They called him a “poser.” Classic playground stuff, right? So, of course, he decides he’s going to be like the law’s scary long arm, or something. Bit predictable, but hey, revenge is a normal motivator for anyone who’s been dissed, I guess. Now, Constable Richard doesn’t get much background—lazy storytelling or maybe they just didn’t have time—but he’s supposedly just as tough and, well, absurd as Officer Dick.
Let’s take a detour down memory lane for a sec. If you missed Officer Dick from the old Tony Hawk games, let me fill you in—he’s been a secret character since the beginning and stuck around till Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3. Then he sort of dropped in and out in later versions and popped back in Tony Hawk’s Project 8 and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD, then showed up in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 as, surprise surprise, Jack Black himself.
Oh, and don’t miss it—Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is dropping on July 11. It’s gonna hit like every gaming platform known to humankind: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation (both 4 and 5), Windows PC, Xbox One, and the snazzy new Xbox Series X. Mark your calendars… or don’t. Whatever floats your boat.
