You ever really think about how sneaky games got their start? I did the other day. Random thought, I know, but Metal Gear from back in ‘87 just popped into my head. Kojima and his stealthy magic. So, here we are now, where sneaking around has become an art form. Then there was Thief, Hitman, and Splinter Cell. Those were the days, right? The core of what made them great feels like it’s drifted a bit. But there’s this indie gem, No Sun to Worship, trying to bring back that original thrill.
I mean, it’s got everything: sneaking, shadow-hugging, heart-pounding moments. Gives you limited tools, so it’s like, “Go on, get crafty!” It’s kinda thrilling how just crawling around and messing with lights can make you feel like the king of stealth. Oh, but when your gun’s empty? Yeah, just bluff your way through. Nobody needs to know you’re out of ammo. Seriously, imagine pointing an empty gun and still having control. Wild.
Anyway, the real kicker? The vibe. It’s like stepping into a time machine, landing smack dab in a retro, almost desolate universe. There’s this gritty beauty in its post-nuclear setting, making everything feel kinda… poetic, I guess.
If you’re one of those people who miss the days of strategic silence and shadowy ops, No Sun to Worship is like a love letter to that era. Messy, nostalgic, and just a sprinkle of chaos — much like this ramble of mine. Go give it a shot. Or don’t. Up to you.
And by the way, it’s coming out on Xbox Series X|S. Just tossing that in there in case you’re a console peep.
