In an interesting turn of events, the game development landscape has seen a significant shift as Boston-based studio The Molasses Flood has now officially joined forces with the well-known Polish powerhouse, CD Projekt Red.
This big announcement surfaced through a statement on The Molasses Flood’s website, revealing that as of April 1st, they have become a part of the team behind Cyberpunk 2077. However, the studio reassures fans that this merger won’t impact their earlier games, The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow, which they developed before CD Projekt acquired them in 2021. Currently, The Molasses Flood is focused on their latest endeavor, Project Sirius, a multiplayer experience set in The Witcher universe.
In tandem with these developments, the studio’s founder, Damian Isla, has decided to step away from the company. Expressing his emotions in a LinkedIn post, Isla acknowledged the magnitude of this transition.
“It’s undeniably a significant shift,” he shared. “The Molasses Flood has been a substantial chapter of my life over the past decade, and I’m immensely proud to have contributed to building something that stood the test of time, especially in an industry that can be quite challenging for small teams like ours. We’ve crafted some truly unique and memorable experiences and had the privilege to collaborate with incredibly kind, talented, and generous individuals within the gaming world.”
