I stumbled onto this random Reddit post, and, well, it kinda stuck with me. This user’s going on about this update, 1.2.2 or something, for Mig Flash. Apparently, they’re still happily playing online, Switch 2 and everything, with no ban from Nintendo. Which is kinda wild if you think about it, given how protective ol’ Nintendo gets over its stuff. It’s like, playing with fire but not getting burned. Yet.
So, Mig Flash is this funky little thing — a third-party doodad for the Switch and Switch 2. It’s supposed to back up your games legally (well, that’s the official spiel). You can stuff several games onto one card, which sounds super handy, like carrying a mini library in your pocket. But, obviously, it makes piracy easier too. Of course, Nintendo wasn’t having any of that nonsense when Switch 2 came out. They were on it, bam, within like 12 days of release, nuking consoles left and right. Real scorched earth kind of stuff.
There’s this Reddit thread with this bragging — but it’s kind of scary bragging, like, dude might get banned any minute. On July 1, Mig Flash rolled out some update claiming they’re now kinda like a real game card, like some chameleon. Then another update, 1.2.2, dropped about a week later because of a bug someone found. And by someone, I mean an anonymous hero (or villain?), who got 0.2 ETH for finding it — that’s over $600! Kinda tempting, right?
Yet, the company’s all, “Hey, still risky, no promises!” You’re in the Wild West with this thing.
I guess there’ve been folks who got burned by these tools, like selling the real cartridge after using Mig Flash. Plot twist — ban hammer strikes. Even buying second-hand games can get you into hot water. Like, imagine buying a game off eBay, playing it, and bam, account gone. Happened to a content creator apparently. But if you can sweet-talk Nintendo, you might get lucky and have the ban lifted if you genuinely didn’t know.
But let’s be real — is pushing your luck with Mig Flash worth it? Feels like skating on thin ice. Anyway.
Hey, don’t forget to check out Tom’s Hardware on Google News or something. They might have more on the whole saga. If you’re into that.
