Oh man, where do I start with Saber Interactive’s Runner series? It’s crazy how these games have, like, dragged simulation into this bigger spotlight. So, yeah, way back in 2017 we had Mudrunner, and let me tell you, those off-road vehicles — almost felt like I could smell the mud. Then came Snowrunner (which might’ve just made me crave hot chocolate) and eventually, the intriguing Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game. Honestly, each new title was like, “Whoa! Can they top this?” And, yeah, they kinda did.
So fast forward, and we’ve got Roadcraft, which crashed onto the scene last month. Like, imagine all that detail from the other games, but now you’re building stuff too. A construction playground. Not gonna lie, it’s kinda satisfying, even if I just spent forever trying to figure out why my bridge wasn’t holding. Guess it clicked with others too, seeing how Focus Entertainment’s parent company is jumping up and down about it being this huge “launch success.” Can’t remember the last time an off-roading game had them this hyped.
Our buddy Ed, who’s got a knack for reviews — and, I swear, a way with words — gave Roadcraft a thumbs up. It’s like, even if the game’s about, you know, something obscure, it’s gripping. Construction mechanics here just overshadow those loud RPGs and shooters. Just saying.
And then the numbers. Oh man, Steam’s launch day was bananas with players. Pullup Entertainment Group even called it crazy-good, saying Roadcraft overachieved. Over 600,000 players! I mean, whaaat? Geoffroy Sardin, the Pullup CEO, was singing its praises, like those first weeks were gold. Wonder if he was secretly wishing all their games had that kinda start.
If you’re curious — and, come on, who wouldn’t be at this point? — you can check Roadcraft out on Steam. Wishlist it, buy it, whatever works. Or maybe you’d rather dive into other sandbox or building games on PC? Just throwing options out there.
